Meet The Fake Ghost
My Little Revenge, Which I Hope Will Become Yours Too.
Greetings and Blessings, and hope that like me, you’re all being kind to yourselves in these challenging times. My attention span is now zero, my writing sessions as sporadic as can be. A bad fall off the treadmill at full speed and a second fall six months later at the Berlin U-Bahn, means I’m having endless physiotherapy sessions on both arms and eyeing my laptop with longing, waiting impatiently for when I can write for at least an hour without the excruciating arm-throbs. Anyway, good news is: the physio is working and my trusty tablet has become my writing companion—easier to write with one finger sitting leisurely on the couch and churning out fifty words an hour! Happy days!
So, here I am again, seven months to my last January post, sharing some updates about my upcoming book, THE FAKE GHOST, with you wonderful folks if you’re interested in hearing about it. No doubt, you’ve got better things to focus your attentions on, but I’m hoping this might be a nice little distraction if I end up tempting you to read the book for some light entertainment and distraction. Not forgetting that lovely feeling of well-earned revenge I mentioned. THE FAKE GHOST will be released in exactly 7 days! Yes; on the 12th of August, 2025, this my latest African horror/fantasy/magical realism book will be released by Dead Sky Publishing! This is my second book with this awesome publisher responsible for bringing my book, A DANCE FOR THE DEAD to the world. I just love these guys to bits!
So, here’s a brief snapshot of what some readers think about THE FAKE GHOST
1. My publisher calls the book my “most fantastical tale yet!”
2. The multi award-winning horror author, Tim Lebbon calls it, “shocking, fantastical and hilarious!”
3. The equally multi-decorated author, Linda Addison, calls it “a mesmerizing journey I didn’t want to end. Onoh creates a compelling movie in the reader’s mind that is unforgettable!"
4. Candace Nola of Uncomfortably Dark podcast has this to say about the book – “a healthy dose of humor, and a highly original storyline, Nuzo Onoh's latest release is literary perfection."
5. Goodreads reviewer, Inciminci, adds her bit – “this book had me cracking up so many times, for which I'm grateful.”
6. Finally, a Netgalley reviewer has this to say – “I’m not sure what I expected but this was better! The creativity of this story blew me away. I gasped, I laughed, I rooted for various characters, and I wished others ill... Don’t read this if you don’t like “bad” language and/or have no sense of humor.”
I think from this small selection of reviews, you can tell that there’s an overriding theme here – humour! And yes, you will need a great deal of humour to stomach some of the whacky and truly horrible antics of the main antagonist in this story, none other than a racist, sexist and homophobic president of the United States who is reborn as an African baby in a tiny mud-hut! Perfect karma, I think. I wrote this book in 2020, at the height of the COVID pandemic as I struggled to deal with the corrupt shenanigans of our world leaders and the slew of fake news plaguing us at the time. What better story to tell than one of a fake ghost! Although I explore numerous current social ills which still plague us in the near future of 2031, when the book is set, this is still a work of fiction in my new African magical-realism/fantasy/horror work, which I hope you’ll embrace and enjoy as I enjoyed writing it.
So, this is me done with this blog. It’s only as far as my new ant-brain will allow me to write. I’ll leave you with the blurb of THE FAKE GHOST and links to pre-order and make my day. Thanks again for reading this and beaming you the blessings of the universe and your benevolent ancestors!

But first, he must enter a diabolical blood pact, which might return to haunt him with devastating consequences.
